MARK THORNTON:
For over 20 years Mark has been guiding walks into the remotest parts of Tanzania. His company, Mark Thornton Safaris, has won numerous awards and honors for its unique safaris from National Geographic, The New York Times, the World Sustainable Tourism Council and others. Recently it was the runner-up for the prestigious World Legacy Awards. Mark holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Management, serves on the board of a cutting-edge local conservation organization and is an assessor of walking guide training for the Interpretive Guides Society. He is also a published novelist and lives in a forest outside of Arusha, Tanzania.

EMMANUEL CHAGAMBA:
Few people know these remote parts of the Serengeti better than Chagamba. After all, it's in his blood. Raised on the western edge
of the Serengeti, Chagamba learned the bush from an early age and seems to have an internal GPS with an uncanny understanding of terrain. And he's got the experience with years both as a tracker for big game hunts in the Selous and as a professional guide for some of Tanzania's most prestigious camps. Chagamba has been guiding for Mark for many years and is a crucial part of the team at Mark Thornton Safaris, leading more walks in these areas than anyone else. On safari with Chagamba one not only notices his vast knowledge of biodiversity but also his calm personality and his in-depth familiarity with the wilderness.

GIAN SCHACHENMANN:
The adventurer. Of Swiss origin, but raised
in Tanzania since an early age, Gian has been guiding for Mark for almost a decade. His resume speaks volumes for his passion for adventure and exploration. A paramotorist,
a maker of canoes, a filmaker, a photographer, a motorbiker, he can even be found these days crawling into volcanoes in Indonesia or Congo to film lava flows. But above all, he is a first-rate walking guide, having led countless walking safaris for Mark and was with Mark on the first-ever Serengeti Traverse. Reliable, dedicated and fascinated with exploring new areas, Gian is now a veteran walking guide in Tanzania and always great fun to spend time with in the bush.
