LED BY SEASONED SAFARI GUIDES

This rare expedition traverses the roadless wilderness zones of Serengeti National Park where no others can go. We will encounter wildlife, challenge ourselves, and indulge in deep immersion into pristine wilderness. In our 10 days, we examine the remarkable biodiversity of the Serengeti’s varied ecosystems from river systems to open plains and magnificent rock protrusions offering the Serengeti landscape of the postcards. We also explore Serengeti’s human history, learning about our ancestors who walked this same terrain millions of years ago and the Maasai who until recently made this land their home. We see the marks they left behind: the rock paintings in caves, the obsidian arrowheads on the plains.

As with many of your guests, we are officially addicted to the African experience.

On the Walk

On the Walk

Difficulty: Moderate

This is not a mountain climb, but one must be able to walk for 4-6 hours in the morning. Terrain is mainly flat with some rolling hills. It can be uneven, grassy and rocky in places. We walk full mornings, rest after lunch in camp, and enjoy an optional walk in the afternoons.

CLIMATE

Climate is mild and beautiful. At about 5500 feet, we enjoy cool evenings and mornings. When the sun comes out, it can average 80ºF, but by sundown, we are putting our fleeces on around the campfire. Perfect.

EAT WELL, Sleep well

Camp is lightweight and low impact, with medium-size walk-in tents, cots, mattresses, comfy duvets and linens and pillows. A separate tent is set up with a sit-down toilet and hot bucket shower. Meals are healthy and delicious with vegetarian and vegan options served around the campfire with cold beer and wine. Camp moves location each day after breakfast.

PRIvate

The true ‘high-end’ safari is not about luxury, but about experience, exclusivity and guiding. On this expedition, the camp, vehicles, guides (and entire wilderness!) are private to just your group. You are never mixed with other people. This is the way of the original safari.

The remoteness of each area provided us spectacular connection to the land and it’s inhabitants. I wasn’t sure that I could handle camping and walking for 6 days and that was probably the most rewarding part of the entire experience for me. More impressive than the locations was your staff. They provided so much insight into the areas — and were pretty funny on top of that — that we were engaged from the first moment.

All of this is to simply say thank you. When I left Houston on that first flight I figured this was going to be a one-time trip to Africa. Now that I have done this you will definitely see us again.
